Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are all at different skill sets with mountain biking so we’ve created comprehensive descriptions for each WOW Rider group and skills clinic.

    There’s something for everyone!

    WOW Rider Level Descriptions

  • - Mountain bike in good working condition and fit (commuters or hybrids are not suitable)
    - Absolutely no toe cages, kick stands, racks, or panniers (zero exceptions).
    - Helmet (CSA approved, MIPS beneficial, not older than 5 years)
    - Tire pump or C02 cartridge
    - Spare tube for your wheel size (26”, 27.5” or 29”)
    - Flat pedals/shoes are highly recommended but if you are more comfortable with clip in pedals, that is a-ok.
    - Jacket or extra layer (dress for the weather)
    - Jersey or comfortable top
    - Shorts or leggings (no baggy pants)
    - Socks tall enough to cover your ankles
    - Flat sole shoes or close toe (no sandals, crocks, toe shoes, etc)
    - Gloves - full finger (recommended)
    - Sunglasses (HIGHLY recommended for safety)
    - Hydration pack or water bottle
    - Personal snack, suns screen, bug spray (up to you)

    What if I don’t have everything?
    - Equipment, gear and accessories are collected over time. Don’t sweat it if you don’t have a pump or sport specific clothing.
    - Wear what you are comfortable in (not loose / baggy stuff though!) so you can focus on learning.
    - Instructors and ride leaders will have spare tools and tubes!

  • WOW Riders
    - Ride locations will be set approximately two weeks in advance.
    - WOW Riders will have access to password protected area of the webpage for locations, and additional details.
    - Ride locations may change due to rain or wet conditions (have you even TRIED to ride in Edmonton in the wet?)

    Private Lessons
    - Locations are decided between the rider and certified instructor.

    Clinics
    - Locations will be emailed to all participants a few days prior to the clinic date.

  • WOW Riders

    - WOW Riders is non refundable

    Private Lessons

    - Payment is made directly to the instructor once the lesson has been scheduled (confirmed). Payments are accepted by eTransfer or cash only. In the event of inclement weather or a need for reschedule (to be discussed between participant and instructor). If a lesson cannot be rescheduled, $25 admin fee will be retained per participant, and the remaining balance refunded back to the participant who paid via eTransfer. Cancellations from the participant (without reschedule) is required 24 hours prior to the lesson date for a refund. Cancellations (without reschedule) provided within 24 hours of the lesson date will not be refunded.

    Clinics
    - Cancellations are subject to a $25 admin fee regardless of date registered/paid.
    - Rainouts will be rescheduled once on a best effort basis.
